UTComp to showcase latest FRP testing technology at NACE Corrosion Conference & Expo

March 22, 2017

March 22, 2017 – UTComp will showcase its UltraAnalytix® system for non-destructive, non-intrusive FRP testing — including new technology for accurate testing of small-diameter pipe — at the NACE Corrosion Conference and Expo on March 26-30, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

UTComp representatives will be available at booth #2431 to demonstrate the Reduced Aperture Delay (RAD) Line, which allows accurate testing of FRP equipment with an outside radius of curvature between 25mm (2 inches) and 300mm (12 inches).

The RAD Line extends the capabilities of UTComp’s novel UltraAnalytix® system, a rigorously tested and proven non-intrusive and non-destructive method used worldwide for inspecting FRP.

“UltraAnalytix® provides accurate and reliable service-life forecasting for FRP assets, saving our customers millions of dollars in equipment replacement costs,” says Geoff Clarkson, President of UTComp and inventor of the UltraAnalytix® system.

The accuracy of UltraAnalytix® system is also the focus of a presentation at NACE by Pradip Khaladkar, Principal Consultant of PECT Consulting.

The presentation, Using Ultrasonic Technique to Determine Fitness for Service of FRP Equipment for Chemical Handling Applications, takes place Tuesday March 28 in the Corrosion Solutions for the Chemical Process Industry with Polymer Based Materials section, TEG 191X.

“UltraAnalytix® is the FRP testing breakthrough industry has been asking for,” says Jo Anne Watton, Chief Operating Officer of UTComp. “We can help anyone who owns FRP equipment ensure reliability by making the right decisions at the right time with the right information and we can help FRP manufacturers improve their products and increase sales.”

The new, patent-pending RAD Line fastens easily to an existing transducer and improves coupling to allow ultrasonic energy to be applied accurately to FRP with an outside diameter as small as 50mm (2 inches), working with UltraAnalytix® software for accurate inspection and structural evaluation of FRP.
