Another patent milestone for UTComp innovation

November 3, 2026

UTComp is proud to announce that our non-destructive system for evaluating corrosion barrier condition is now patented in Australia!

Australia’s Commissioner of Patents granted Patent No. 2021222122, “System and Method for Evaluation of a Material System,” on October 8, 2026.

This milestone follows last year’s award of U.S. Patent No. 12,241,868 for the same technology, further recognizing UTComp’s game changing approach to FRP composite inspection and assessment.

What makes UltraAnalytix different?

UltraAnalytix NDE is an attenuation-based ultrasound method that allows reliability teams to assess corrosion barrier condition, including Polymer Damage Status (PDS) and damage depth, from the exterior of an asset — without shutting down operations or risky, time-consuming confined space entry.

By offering data-based evaluation of corrosion barrier condition, UltraAnalytix provides owners a safer, more accurate and reliable alternative to subjective visual inspections and other traditional techniques such as Barcol hardness testing.

This helps them make better-informed decisions about the integrity and remaining service life of their FRP composite assets, including:

  • Storage vessels and chemical piping
  • Process scrubbers and ventilation stacks
  • Equipment handling highly corrosive chemicals such hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide.
