With a 25-year record of success as a mechanical engineer and entrepreneur, Bob is a proven leader who has developed cutting-edge processes and innovative products across multiple sectors including advanced manufacturing, plastics and clean energy. He brings a unique combination of technical skills and business acumen that will help advance UTComp’s global mission to improve the safety and reliability of industrial assets and infrastructure made from fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) and other composite materials.
“I’m very excited to be part of the UTComp team,” said Ilmonen, who has helped dozens of companies develop products from concept to market as an engineering manager, business owner and consultant, and mentor through organizations such as Innovation Guelph and the Ontario Centres of Excellence.

Recruiting an experienced leader like Ilmonen is a significant development in UTComp’s evolution, said Jo Anne Watton, the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
